| All students will experience a camp whilst at Kaitao Middle School. Camp is an important part of the informal learning which takes place at Kaitao Middle School, and is important in developing the "whole person". Camps teach our students to have confidence in themselves and to get on with others in a variety of new situations. Personal challenges such as managing relationships, leadership responsibilities, personal goal-setting and coping with stress are all part of the camping experience. All classes experienced camp in 2004. | |
| As well as camp, all classes attend the Waimarino Canoe Centre, and there are a variety of other outdoor activities depending on the programme for that year. Marae stays are also a regular part of the programme, and are every alternative year. |
