Creative Arts builds confidence in young, emerging students. They are an important means of communicating their ideas and expressing emotion.

Whilst at Kaitao Middle School, students will have the opportunity to become involved in a number of activities related to The Arts.

ART & CRAFT

Students will be invited to give creative form to their ideas and feelings as part of the regular programme.

A strong emphasis is placed on Visual Arts.

PERFORMING ARTS

This involves the students in a number of performance areas including Creative Dance, Drama, Kapa Haka, Singing, Creative Music and Modern and Formal Dance. Self-assurance comes from training and the many opportunities offered to develop a positive self-image. These are provided through activities like Drama, Theatre Sports, Readers' Theatre, Debating, Singing and Kapa Haka. All students from across the school have the opportunity to be in the Kapa Haka.

MUSIC
A Music Specialist provides class lessons for all classes as well as an opportunity for students to be involved in:

Kaitao Middle School has recognised that Music is a very important aspect of self-expression for our emerging adolescents, and has consequently provided the resource to develop it.

THE SCHOOL PRODUCTION
The annual School Production is an opportunity for over 100 students to become involved.

Auditions, rehearsals and final performances generally take place in Term 3 and students, no matter how big or how small their part, feel a sense of unity as they work as a team towards a common goal. All students have the opportunity to audition for parts.
