The impact of 'Information Technology' has brought a revolution to our schools. The ability to store vast quantities of data, and instantly retrieve it, has changed the way our students access information. Kaitao Middle School has rcognised the need for students to be able to have access to, and effectively use, a variety of technologies. Kaitao Middle School is fully computer networked and all classrooms have at least two computers which is accessible to all students. The computer is a tool for use in all subject areas. |

Students have access to a bank of computers in the Information Centre as well as scanners, video projector, digital cameras, video capture cards, e-mail, audio and video confrencing and all the very latest software. Kaitao Middle School has its own Intranet and Website. |

| Each classroom is also equipped with a 'soundfield' system and a 'listening post'. The Discovery Academy, as well as up to 15 computers, has wireless access to laptops when avaliable. Some classes have interactive whiteboards. | |

Kaitao Television (KTV) has been a feature of the school's developing technologies for a number of yars and covers the audio and visual language strand of the curriculum. All students will have the oppurtunity to be involved in the making of a television programme for broadcast to the whole school. In 2001 the school won the 'Fair Go' Advertising Awards and in 2002, 2003 and 2004 won the Nzoom.com Web Challenge. In 2005 our students were placed 3rd. In 2006 students were placed 2nd in the 'Beanman' Video Advertising Competition and in 2008 had won the best costume design award. |
